Fredericksburg United Methodist Church (FUMC)

We are a United Methodist Church and a member of the Ashland District of the Virginia Conference.

FUMC is located in the heart of historic Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Our address is 308 Hanover Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  The Church has served the local community and surrounding counties for over 200 years.

Methodism began in Fredericksburg in April, 1802 as a station in the Baltimore Conference.  We were first located downtown on George Street.  The church began to grow in the 1820s when John Kobler, a retired Methodist minister, and his wife, Mary, became members.  We quickly outgrew the small frame building, and in 1842, built a new church on Hanover Street at the location we occupy today. 

We have over 2,200 members within our Church Family serving God in the Fredericksburg area and literally around the world in a wide array of ministries.

Worship Services

We have four Worship Services each week as well as special services throughout the year.  Our Worship Services are designed to honor God while providing a style to allow all of our members and guests a comfortable and engaging atmosphere to celebrate God's presence.

Traditional:  We have two traditional Worship Services on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am and 11:00 pm.  These services are held in our Sanctuary.  Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.  The Children's Choir sings during the 8:30 am service and the Adult Choir during the 11:00 am service.

Contemporary:  We have one contemporary Worship Service on Sunday morning at 9:45 am.  This service is held in Kobler Hall.  Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month.  This service has a Praise Band and offers a lot of music.

Open Door:  We have one alternative Worship Service, the Open Door Service, on Saturday evening at 5:30 pm.  This service is held in Kobler Hall.  Holy Communion is served at each service.  This service has a Praise Band and offers a lot of music.
