This month, the United Methodist Men Monthly Breakfast meeting will take place on Saturday, 10 May 2008, at 8:00 a.m. in the Fredericksburg United Methodist Youth Group's Room. Jerusalem Marketplace in Coming

Jerusalem MarketplaceImagine what it was like to live and work in the bustling city of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. Jerusalem Marketplace VBS immerses learners in Bible-times culture, helping kids and adults explore what it might have been like to live when Jesus did. Each day the children, as members of the tribes of Israel, will interact with a variety of Bible-times characters including shopkeepers, rabbis, soldiers, and even Jesus' friends. God's word comes alive as families explore traditional Bible-times customs, occupations, food, and even games! Most importantly, they'll discover that Jesus was a real person - one who can transform our lives today.

All children, ages four years to fifth grade, are welcome to attend Vacation Bible School as we explore Jerusalem Marketplace June 23rd - 27th from 9:00 - 12:00. Registration forms are available in the gathering space.

To make Jerusalem come to life we need lots of parent volunteers and support. We are in need of solid color sheets for costumes as well people to sew them. We also need to borrow several canopies that will help turn FUMC into a marketplace. We need "tribal leaders" who will each lead a group of children through this trip back in time. We are looking for carpenters, potters, weavers, spinners, embroiders, herb and spice sellers, musicians, jewelry makers, and basket weavers. (You don't have to be an expert - just eager to learn!) We are also looking for Roman guards, magicians/sorcerers, beggars, storytellers, song leaders, games leaders, and a few grumpy tax collectors. Come play pretend with us! It will be an experience you'll never forget!
